Edelman lands top spot in PRWeek's Agency Rankings

NEW YORK: For the second year, PRWeek is presenting its Agency Business Report, including the Agency Rankings, which include 230 firms. Most agencies that are part of publicly traded holding companies didn't supply figures, citing Sarbanes-Oxley.

Edelman once again leads, with US revenues of $152.7 million, a 10% increase over last year. The firm also has grown its staff from 955 to 1,010, and revenue per employee has grown.

Waggener Edstrom was second, with a 12% increase to $77.7 million in the US. Ruder Finn was third, with revenues up 9% to $74.4 million. MWW Group, which is part of Interpublic, did supply revenue figures, at $39.2 million, putting it fourth. Growth among midsize firms was robust, particularly for Bite Communications, which showed a 218% increase over 2003.

Since the report went to press, there have been developments, including a CEO change at MS&L. GCI Group CEO Bob Feldman is rumored to be leaving the firm. Interpublic has announced 2004 revenues of $6.2 billion worldwide, but the results are preliminary.
