An April 19 Wall Street Journal article, "Advice for Sale," has opened the floodgates as PR pros are suddenly wanting to talk to us about their reconstituted, or newly conceived, disclosure requirements.
What a shame that there has been such reluctance in the industry to address this issue prior to it being splashed all over the bible of the business world.
Since the Medicare VNR issue broke more than a year ago, the industry has been on notice that scrutiny of this kind was coming. But virtually no one has been willing to discuss the issues in their own media. More proactive communications on industry practices is an essential step forward.
