WALTHAM, MA: Internet portal and search engine company Lycos has picked PAN Communications as its new AOR. The company previously worked with Weber Shandwick.

Lycos operates numerous sites, including search engines such as Lycos.com and Hotbot.com, web-hosting sites Tripod.com and Angelfire.com, and tech news site Wired.com.

At a time when Google and Yahoo dominate the search market, as well as related media coverage, Lycos will use its upcoming 10th anniversary to move its brand back to the forefront of the search market, said Philip Nardone Jr., president of PAN.

He called the win a "healthy, six-figure account."

"We believe Lycos has a strong brand, and they need to continue to promote that more consistently," he said. "They need to take advantage of their existing and future products."

PAN's initial efforts will include an executive visibility tour, as well as efforts for the company's 10th anniversary.
