NEW YORK: The Arthur W. Page Society has hired its first full-time, in-house communications director.
Karen Arnold, who worked as marketing communications manager for PSCU Financial Services for the last three-and-a-half years, joined the Page Society at the beginning of the month.
?The Page Society is entering its next phase of development,? Arnold said, ?and the board felt it was time.?
Her duties will include content development for Society publications, helping develop the annual report, executive director support, and trade-media relations.
Arnold will also be ?an integral part? of a strategic planning process that the Society will be immersed in for the next several months, she said. Its purpose is to determine the group?s direction and focus for the future. The Society?s exclusivity makes it uniquely positioned to speak out on behalf of the recently beleaguered PR industry.
It is doubtful that the planning process will focus on expanded membership. ?We would still like to keep it as prestigious as possible,? said Arnold.
