Medicare organization increases RFP cap to $25 million

WASHINGTON: The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which is currently looking for at least three agencies to handle all its outreach activities, has raised the cap on the RFP to $25 million from $17.25 million.

WASHINGTON: The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which is currently looking for at least three agencies to handle all its outreach activities, has raised the cap on the RFP to $25 million from $17.25 million.

It has also extended the RFP deadline to June 22 because of additional information CMS is requesting from bidders.

A contracting officer could not immediately confirm whether the new price tag would expand the scope of the work or increase the number of agencies selected to work with CMS.

The revised RFP also emphasizes that research will be a significant component of future assignments ? whether it's determining what factors lead a beneficiary to sign up for a particular Medicare plan, or how CMS can improve its Medicare & You handbook.

Under the Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity policy, CMS selects a roster of preferred agencies, and will only hear pitches from those firms over a specified length of time.

Ketchum, Ogilvy PR, GCI Group, and Academy for Education Development are the incumbent agencies.
