CHICAGO: Citigate Sard Verbinnen has hired Brad Wilks away from Ogilvy to become the new managing director and CEO of Sard?s Chicago office, effective August 1.
Wilks had been Ogilvy's Chicago managing director for six years.
Discussions leading up to the move took about three weeks, said Wilks. He had worked with George Sard, chairman and CEO of Citigate Sard, early in his career and kept in touch with him. Citigate Sard approached him about the Chicago position, Wilks said.
"When you have worked with somebody of that caliber and you get the chance to do it again, you jump at it," Wilks said. "I believe there's a tremendous opportunity in the Midwest for that franchise." M&A activity, a Citigate Sard specialty, is increasing in the region as the economy picks up steam.
Wilks takes over from Ron Culp, who opened the Citigate Sard Chicago office in 2003 and now will become its chairman.
At Ogilvy, Betsy Neville will become the new managing director for Chicago.
