NEW YORK: DeVries PR has hired two new managing directors.
Ovidio Torres, who joins from Chamberlain Communications, where he was EVP and managing partner, will lead the healthcare practice.
Randi Cone, the former president of DNA Cone Communications, will oversee the home & lifestyle practice.
"There's a lot of power here [at DeVries] in communicating with consumers," Torres said. "The need to reach out and make a connection to consumers has only increased, and will only continue to increase."
He added that he will be responsible for building "deep, long-lasting relationships" with clients such as Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble.
Cone, who has also worked in corporate communications at AOL and CBS division King World, noted that she plans to explore opportunities for campaigns that include celebrity and entertainment promotion.
"I always had the luxury of thinking big when working in entertainment," she said. "I think I can bring a little excitement and the entertainment lifestyle to home accounts."
In addition to building the practice, she will also work on accounts including Lindt chocolates, Tupperware, and the launch of Tide to Go.
