CT Lottery awards its $5m account to Cashman & Katz

GLASTONBURY, CT: Cashman & Katz (C&K) has been tapped to handle the $5 million PR and advertising account for the Connecticut Lottery.

GLASTONBURY, CT: Cashman & Katz (C&K) has been tapped to handle the $5 million PR and advertising account for the Connecticut Lottery.

The account was previously held by Cronin & Co. for 14 years. One other undisclosed agency competed during the mandatory review.

Dennis Chapman, VP of marketing and sales for the Lottery, said C&K's PR team would promote the many ways proceeds from the lottery benefit the community.

"[C&K will] help let people know where the money goes, and it will talk about the various programs that are supported by the [Lottery] monies," said Chapman.

The breakdown between advertising and PR has not yet been determined.

Chapman said that the Connecticut Lottery also handles some PR in-house because a winner could be announced at any time, and the department needed to be ready to inform the public quickly.

C&K will hold the account for three years, and then the Connecticut Lottery can extend the contract for two one-year extensions.

The Lottery account increases the agency's billings 20% to $30 million.

"C&K felt they had reached a sufficient size to bid on the account, and we know they have a tremendous amount of talent," Chapman said.
