LOS ANGELES: SPEED Channel, owned by Fox Networks Group, has picked automotive boutique JMPR to handle national media relations.
JMPR will work on raising the overall visibility of the network as well as launching and promoting shows such as Pinks, a series about races where the winners take the pink slips, and Unique Whips, about a celebrity car customizer.
The agency will also help plan and publicize the channel?s 10th anniversary next year.
JMPR principal Joe Molina said the account was expanded from project work that began last fall, and that the agency was chosen in part because automotive fans ?are an audience we are very familiar with,? from having worked on Discovery Channel shows including Monster Garage and American Hot Rod. JMPR was also the original agency that helped launch the network, before it was purchased by Fox.
Based in North Carolina, SPEED Network runs racing coverage, automotive news, lifestyle, and reality programming. The channel reaches 64 million homes in the US and 5 million in Canada.
