SANTA MONICA, CA: The Prostate Cancer Foundation has named Sarah Evans to its top communications post, as the non-profit group undertakes a new push to raise awareness of the disease.
?It?s a cause that?s not been at the public forefront,? said Evans, who will serve as VP of communications and report to COO Debbie Bohnett. ?Prostate cancer is about 10 years [in terms of awareness] behind breast cancer.?
The foundation is currently building a campaign around Father?s Day. One in six men are at risk for the disease.
Following what Evans calls a ?breast cancer model,? the organization is working with a growing list of corporate partners that will help rally both men and women.
The foundation will continue to work with Burns McClellan and Fenton Communications.
Evans will oversee all web content, marketing materials, campaigns, media relations, and public affairs.
She joins from CarryOn Communication, where she founded and led the social marketing & lifestyle division.
