SAN FRANCISCO: Aaron Salkin has joined the San Francisco 49ers as director of PR.
He replaces Kirk Reynolds, who resigned just before media training tapes he made containing racy images and racial humor surfaced in the media.
The tapes generated national attention, and became a major embarrassment to the 49ers, who worked aggressively to denounce the tapes as "reprehensible and tasteless." The team also reached out to local community groups offended by the tapes' content.
Salkin joins the 49ers from the Atlanta Falcons, where he was director of football communications for six seasons. He has also worked for the New York Giants.
Salkin was not immediately available for comment.
