NEW YORK: Media company VNU and market intelligence firm IMS Health are working with Taylor Rafferty to communicate with stakeholders about the profitability of their impending merger.
The Netherlands-based VNU is the publisher of titles such as AdWeek and Billboard. It also owns ACNielsen and Nielsen Media Research.
IMS Health tracks product information for the drug industry, including marketing and prescription data.
In a press conference, VNU CEO Rob van der Bergh emphasized the "meaningful synergies" between the two companies.
"It is a perfect fit of strong and related marketing information companies," he said. "Consumer insight is becoming more important in all our businesses."
David Carlucci, IMS Health CEO and president, who will become deputy CEO and COO of the combined company, said the merger would allow the new entity to be the authority on both consumer behavior and attitudes, as well as to analyze media and entertainment audiences.
"No other entity can offer the range of products, services, and solutions that we can," he said.
