Ogilvy on urgent drive to find liver transplant for staffer

NEW YORK: Ogilvy PR professional Shari Kurzrok, who has done much to raise awareness for the importance of medical donations, is in serious need of a donation herself.

The 31 year-old PR professional needs a liver transplant within days or she will die from a sudden, unexplained illness, according to doctors at New York University Medical Center. She entered the hospital last weekend and was immediately told she needed a life-saving, complete liver transplant. She is not a candidate for a partial liver transplant.

Kurzrok, who spearheaded American Red Cross?s 345-city Save-a-Life-Tour, now finds herself in dire need of a transplant of her own from a donor with type A or type O blood.

The Save-a-Life-Tour both created awareness for blood donation and attracted more than 38,000 new potential donors and collected 3.2 million pints of blood.

"Shari poured her heart, soul and life into one of our largest initiatives and truly helped save lives,? said Kamenna Lee, director of sales and marketing for American Red Cross in a press release. ?I urge the public to help Shari the way she helped so many people."

Anyone that has information about a donor with type A or O blood can call 877-223-3386 or email liverforalife@yahoo.com.
