NEW YORK: Local all-news radio station 1010 WINS has tapped Dan Klores Communications to help promote its upcoming 40th anniversary.

"For us, it's a tremendous opportunity because 1010 WINS is an iconic New York brand," said Joe DePlasco, managing director at DKC. "We all associate [the channel] with breaking news and breaking events."

He said that one of the key parts of the campaign would be promoting the station's "Top 40 Newsmakers Poll Countdown," which lists prominent New Yorkers from categories such as sports, politics, and entertainment. Reggie Jackson, Curtis Sliwa, and Mike Tyson are among those profiled.

Some of the station's most beloved personalities will also be incorporated into the campaign, DePlasco said.

He added that DKC's work would combine media relations and outreach around some of the station's events, such as the anniversary gala on October 12 at Gotham Hall.
