THOUSAND OAKS, CA: Amgen?s VP of corporate communications has left the company.
Marie Kennedy held one of the top communications posts at the biotech giant and reported to the EVP of finance, strategy, and communications.
She also served as president of the Amgen Foundation, the company?s philanthropic arm.
She joined the company in January 2003 from Genentech, where she was senior director of corporate affairs.
A successor for Kennedy has not yet been named, according to Mary Klem, Amgen?s associate director of corporate PR. Klem noted that Kennedy ?left to pursue other opportunities,? but could not elaborate on what those are.
Kennedy could not be reached for comment.
Amgen, the world?s biggest biotech company, was named Forbes 2004 company of the year.
