NEW YORK: Pfizer has named Loretta Ucelli SVP of corporate communications.
She will report to Jeffrey Kindler, who in February was promoted to vice chairman and general counsel, assuming the corporate affairs duties of Chuck Hardwick, who retired.
Hardwick oversaw seven or eight direct reports, but Kindler decided to consolidate to three, with Ucelli handling all strategic and broad-based PR.
Ucelli will oversee media relations, intranet and internet, executive communications, and the information center.
She will join August 29 from Columbia University, where she was EVP, communications and external affairs.
She previously directed White House communications for two years under the Clinton administration and also served as associate administrator for communications, education, and public affairs at the Environmental Protection Agency.
The placement was handled by Korn/Ferry International.
Product PR remains under a separate reporting structure.
