CBS Comms gears up to introduce its 'Watch!' magazine

NEW YORK: CBS Communications Group is entering the custom publishing world with Watch!, a quarterly magazine set to launch in January.

NEW YORK: CBS Communications Group is entering the custom publishing world with Watch!, a quarterly magazine set to launch in January.

Jeremy Murphy, director of editorial services for the group, said the magazine was a natural evolution.

"We provide so much material to the media," he said. "It was basically a decision on our part to take what we're already giving and package it in a magazine."

Watch! will include information on all CBS divisions, including sports, news, and entertainment. Gil Schwartz, EVP of CBS Communications Group, will serve as editor-in-chief. Murphy, who will serve as editor, said the group doesn't view it as a marketing vehicle.

"It really is a journalistic enterprise," he said. "We're putting together a magazine that will be useful."

CBS is working with Arizona-based communications firm McMurry on the launch.
