CHICAGO: Edelman has promoted Bill Keegan to EVP and director of its US crisis and issues-management practice. Keegan has been an SVP with the Chicago-based practice since 2002.
Keegan said he is working with his international colleagues to develop better coordination between the US and international crisis and issues-management practices.
"We're also doing a fair amount of education to our other practices and offices," said Keegan. "We're trying to give our own people more hands-on experience in this discipline."
Keegan conceded that crisis and issues-management can be a bit amorphous, but that the practice is showing how it permeates everything from product recalls to litigation support to labor issues.
Keegan said he is also seeing clients being more proactive and wanting to learn how to deal with a crisis before it happens.
Prior to joining Edelman, Keegan served as director of corporate communications for NiSource, an energy-services holding company. He has also held senior management positions with Ketchum, and senior communications positions with Apple Computer.
"Since he joined Edelman, Bill has forged a strong team of crisis and issues practitioners in Chicago, and has significantly grown the crisis and issues-management and consulting business across the US," said Pam Talbot, president and CEO of Edelman US, in a statement.
