PRINCETON, NJ: David Polk, VP of media relations for Tyco International, left the company in early October, and Tyco has since restructured its PR department.
Sheri Woodruff, who has taken on Polk's title, said that he "left us for other opportunities outside the company." Polk himself was unavailable for comment.
Woodruff, who was promoted from within the media relations department, is assuming new responsibilities as well. Tyco has brought responsibility for financial communications and corporate responsibility under her purview. Those two areas were formerly handled by Marty Dauer, who has transferred to another position at one of Tyco's business units.
"Those were opportunities with some other personnel moves that made sense to organize under one department," Woodruff said.
Tyco has been winnowing down its list of dozens of PR agencies for more than a year. In January, it consolidated its corporate positioning work with Peppercom. Agency partner Ed Moed did not return a call before press time.
