Structure shuffle leaves Ogilvy PR reporting to O&M

NEW YORK: Ogilvy PR is now reporting to Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) rather than directly to parent company WPP.

NEW YORK: Ogilvy PR is now reporting to Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) rather than directly to parent company WPP.

Marcia Silverman, Ogilvy PR CEO, said the arrangement was fostered for financial reasons, but would also mean "a closer relationship with Ogilvy."

Silverman will now report to Shelly Lazarus, chairman and CEO of Ogilvy Worldwide, and Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP.

Silverman said the firm has been pitching more frequently with the other Ogilvy units, due to the Ogilvy 360 initiative to combine disciplines. She added that the PR agency's relationship with Ogilvy would mirror that of other Ogilvy-branded marketing firms, such as Ogilvy One and Healthworld.

"There has been tremendous momentum in our partnership with Ogilvy PR in building our 360 degree offering," read an O&M statement.

Silverman stressed that Ogilvy PR will remain independent, with its own board and council.

WPP's other PR brands are part of divisions. Cohn & Wolfe is a subsidiary of Young & Rubicam Brands, and GCI is part of Grey Global Group.
