FWV purchases Donohue, BurtonLuch

NEW YORK: French West Vaughan (FWV) has acquired New York-based firms Jody Donohue Associates (JDA) and BurtonLuch PR.

NEW YORK: French West Vaughan (FWV) has acquired New York-based firms Jody Donohue Associates (JDA) and BurtonLuch PR.

CEO Rick French said FWV closed fiscal year 2005 with billings of $11 million, up from $8.97 million in 2004, but would not disclose acquired billings. The acquisition adds 12 employees to its New York office.

French said both firms' clients would help FWV expand its consumer roster without any conflicts with existing clients.

"Our New York office is generally consumer-orientated," French said. The acquisitions expand "on what we already see as strength in the consumer practice."

French also said the acquisitions were part of an international growth strategy and praised the international experience of the agencies' principals. "It's important to have a strong New York presence with people who have good overseas experience and contacts," French said. "We're looking at New York as a hub to the international expansion we want to do."

FWV will absorb all JDA clients, such as Speedo Swimwear and fashion designer Jacqueline de Ribes, and all BurtonLuch clients, such as Indesit Co. and Alpine Log Homes.

Former JDA president Jody Donohue joins FWV as senior counsel, and former BurtonLuch president Jacqueline Burton becomes a VP focusing on the Northeast market.

Both will work closely with Lauren Taylor, EVP and NY GM.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
