LONDON: Merrill Lynch (ML) has chosen Sara-Louise Boyes as head of media relations for wealth management in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), a newly created post.

Boyes was formerly head of research communications in EMEA. Her old job has been filled by Tomos Rhys Edwards, who moved to ML from his previous role as UK PR manager for Mellon HR&IS, an HR consulting firm. Edwards has also worked as a consultant for Financial Dynamics.

In her new role, Boyes will be responsible for media relations concerning investment management, global private clients, and research in the EMEA region. The establishment of the new post overseeing all three major business lines in EMEA is expected to better organize the department's media relations capabilities. She will supervise Edwards, among others.

Boyes joined ML two years ago. Before that, she worked for Ernst & Young, the international accounting firm, and earlier as a financial journalist for Euromoney magazine, which covers global financial markets.
