RICHMOND, VA: Altec Lansing Technologies has tapped CRT/Tanaka as its AOR, the first account win for the newly merged PR firm.

Altec manufactures consumer and professional speaker systems, including inMotion portable speakers for personal audio devices, such as the iPod. Financial terms of the account were not disclosed.

CRT/Tanaka said it plans to help Altec Lansing strengthen its lifestyle brand position and target new customers through traditional media relations, word- of-mouth marketing, trade show support, and other services.

Last month, Carter Ryley Thomas Public Relations of Richmond, VA, acquired New York-based consumer specialist Patrice Tanaka & Co., creating CRT/Tanaka.

The Altec account will be handled out of CRT/Tanaka's New York office.
