SAN FRANCISCO: Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide picked up another global account last month when Silicon Image, a manufacturer of semiconductors, selected the WPP firm as its AOR.
Ogilvy will focus largely on the North American and Asian markets. The work includes aiding Silicon Image with an ongoing rebranding campaign, traditional media relations, thought-leadership positioning, and influencer seeding.
Silicon Image's primary audience is consumer-electronics manufacturers and retailers, but the agency will also promote its products to early adopters in the hopes that they will impel electronics retailers to carry the company's chips.
Ogilvy's San Francisco office will manage the account, and its Beijing office will represent the agency in Asia.
"While there will be one voice from a messaging point of view, we'll leverage our understanding of how to reach different markets," said Luca Penati, global technology practice managing director.
Penati said there was a competitive pitch for the account involving four finalists. Billings were undisclosed.
"Ogilvy's global strengths in tech and corporate PR, their branding expertise, and their creativity made them the right choice as we rapidly grow our business," said Kasey Holman, senior director, corporate marketing and communications, for Silicon Image, in a statement.
