Two Boston tech pros emerge with new firm

QUINCY, MA: Two veterans of the Boston technology PR scene have launched a new agency, Emerge PR.

QUINCY, MA: Two veterans of the Boston technology PR scene have launched a new agency, Emerge PR.

The two founders and principals are Catherine Marenghi, who ran her own firm, Marenghi Public Relations, since 1992; and Mara Bartucca, a former Horn Group partner who opened that firm's Boston office. Most of Marenghi's staff is now part of the new firm.

The new agency also brings together clients from Marenghi's agency and Bartucca's consulting firm, Dark Horse Consulting, which she started after leaving Horn. Those clients include the Enderle Group, Sento, and Vertical Communications.

Marenghi said when Bartucca left Horn a year ago, they began talking about possible ways for them to work together.

What will distinguish Emerge from other firms in the Boston area, which has its fair share of tech-centric agencies, is its emphasis on senior counsel, said Marenghi.

"All of those agencies have something to offer," said Bartucca. "We are going to start with senior people. We aren't going to have a lot of junior people doing the client work."

While the firm will focus predominantly on technology, it will potentially work with consumer technology and life sciences clients.
