SAN ANTONIO: SBC Communications has announced that Karen Jennings, senior EVP of human resources and communications, will continue in her role when SBC?s acquisition of AT&T is complete.
Jennings, who will oversee media relations, financial communications, and employee communications, will report to Edward Whitacre, who will be CEO and chairman of the new company. He currently holds those titles with SBC.
SBC did not disclose any additional information on how the merger will impact the in-house PR teams, including Bob Schauer, VP of public relations at AT&T.
The company is focused on the final round of approvals before the merger can be final, said Larry Solomon, VP of corporate communications at SBC.
SBC also recently announced that the new company would adopt AT&T's brand.
"The AT&T name has a proud and storied heritage, as well as unparalleled recognition around the globe among both businesses and consumers," said Whitacre in a statement.
Following the merger, expected by the end of the year, the new AT&T will launch a multimedia, integrated marketing campaign.
