TORONTO: Marion MacKenzie has returned to GCI Group, this time as president of GCI Canada, after a two-year hiatus from the agency.
In 2003, she left GCI to join Nortel Networks as VP of corporate communications. She left in May this year to take time off.
Before joining Nortel, she was an EVP with GCI Canada, a post she held from 1997 to 2003.
MacKenzie will report to CEO Jeff Hunt. She replaces Jeff Angel, who is leaving GCI at the end of the year. MacKenzie will also serve as a member of GCI's North America management board.
"Nortel was an amazing job," said MacKenzie. "I wanted to find something comparable. This is certainly of the same caliber."
GCI's clients in Canada include Dell, Shell, and Mattel.
