CHICAGO: Joan Walker this week is taking on the newly created role of SVP of corporate relations at Allstate, according to a source close to the matter.
Walker will reportedly join the company from Qwest Communications, where she had served as EVP of corporate communications.
Allstate spokesman Michael Trevino said the company would not comment on the rumor.
PRWeek reported last week that Walker was leaving the company to return to Chicago, where Allstate has its headquarters.
Early this month, the company launched an advocacy program aimed at helping Americans prepare better for catastrophes as large-scale as Hurricane Katrina. The campaign is being driven largely through newspaper advertising.
"The campaign also represents a call to action for consumers to evaluate our disaster preparedness for themselves and get involved by becoming part of the solution through the www.protectingAmerica.org coalition," read a press release.
Allstate currently retains three PR agencies: Edelman, Weber Shandwick, and Hill & Knowlton.
