NEW YORK: Euro RSCG Worldwide has hired John Margaritis as executive director of Euro RSCG Worldwide PR, effective immediately.
In this newly created position, Margaritis will be responsible the growth of the holding company's North American PR business.
He will also assume the responsibilities of running Euro RSCG Magnet, replacing former CEO Aaron Kwittken, who left the agency in November to pursue client work.
Margaritis joins from Asprey where he was director of marketing for the British luxury goods retailer. He also served as president and COO for Ogilvy PR from 1993 to 1997. He will report to David Jones, Euro RSCG CEO.
"I've always liked to walk into challenging situations that have seen some hard times," Margaritis said. "Magnet's biggest challenge is [becoming] a company with a cohesive culture and point of view. If you asked our competitors and clients what Magnet is, you might get a different answer from each, and you wouldn't get that for Edelman, Ogilvy, or Burson-Marsteller."
Margaritis said it was too early to assess what Magnet's core focus would be.
Margaritis plans to build out a national PR network among Euro RSCG agencies, and ultimately, create a strong international network.
Havas-owned Euro RSCG also operates Euro RSCG Life PR, which specializes in healthcare and biotechnology.
Margaritis said he eventually expects to look for a new Magnet CEO.
