WASHINGTON: Waggener Edstrom has opened a public affairs practice in Brussels that will be closely linked with the agency's operations in DC.

"The ability to align public affairs outreach in Washington, DC, and Brussels is key to our customers," said Mathew Reid, SVP and global public practice leader at Wagged.

Christina Kaul, Wagged SVP and European public affairs practice leader, will head the new office. Before joining the agency earlier this year, Kaul ran her own consultancy.

She previously headed Hill & Knowlton's public affairs efforts in the food, health, and consumer areas in Brussels.
Kaul has "deep and impressive credentials in Brussels and working with the [European Union], but also understands the practice of pan-European public affairs campaigns," Reid said.

The agency's Brussels office will offer various services, including strategic counsel to EU institutions and member governments and media support for policy and public affairs initiatives.

"You look at things like spectrum allocation or competition cases, and corporations today are needing to deal with policy and regulation in one geography and anticipate where it's headed in others fairly quickly and simultaneously," Reid said.

Seattle-based Wag Ed also has European offices in London, Munich, and Paris.
