NEW YORK: Cathy Baron Tamraz has been named CEO of Business Wire. A 26-year veteran of the company, she previously served as president.
Lorry Lokey, founder of BW, will now serve as chairman of the board.
"For the past two years, Cathy in effect, has been acting as CEO and done a great job," Lokey said. "I feel very, very comfortable retreating to the chairmanship."
Tamraz noted that Lokey would still be involved in company decisions, and that the two would "bounce ideas off each other."
She added that moving forward, the most important initiatives would continue to be global expansion and technological innovation, citing XBRL and meta-tagging as examples.
With the recent opening of a Paris office, she said, Europe will continue to be an important area for the company.
There will also be additional developments in Southeast Asia, Australia, India, and China, she said.
BW has also made several senior level appointments. Gregg Castano, SVP of global sales, was promoted to EVP. Also promoted to EVP were Phyllis Dantuono, SVP of national bureaus and Michael Lissauer, SVP of marketing and business strategy.
