LONDON: Shandwick has filled a void atop its UK hierarchy, naming
Philip Dewhurst as its UK chief executive.
Dewhurst previously served as corporate affairs director for Railtrack,
where he spent a tumultuous four years that included a 1996
privatization as well as the Paddington rail disaster last October.
Dewhurst will be in charge of a 300-member team generating nearly
dollars 61 million in annual fee income. He will oversee the firm’s
financial, public affairs, corporate, broadcast and design practices, as
well as its hi-tech arm, Miller Shandwick, and its healthcare and
consumer arm, Shandwick Welbeck.
Dewhurst replaces Michael Murphy, now Shandwick’s deputy worldwide
’Philip has demonstrated exceptional skills tackling the most
challenging communications assignments,’ Murphy said in a statement. ’He
is ideal to spearhead the continued growth of Shandwick in the UK.’
