SAN FRANCISCO: AllBusiness.com, a site offering services and
content for entrepreneurs, has shifted its PR account from
Fleishman-Hillard to Connors Communications.
The shift came suddenly, amidst whispers of a growing rift between
client and PR firm. Neither agency nor a spokesperson from AllBusiness
would confirm rumors that spotty account service and high agency
turnover were behind the decision to seek new PR counsel.
Bringing AllBusiness aboard is somewhat of a coup for Connors, allowing
the agency - known best for its work with consumer-oriented Internet
clients such as CNET and Webvan - to continue its expansion into the
business-to-business market. Since SVP/GM Scott Allison’s arrival at
Connors/SF in September, the agency has added at least two other clients
in this sector, including RemarQ and Snippets.com.
Under Allison’s stewardship, Connors has also expanded its West Coast
presence with last week’s opening of an LA-area branch. Allison
recruited former Gable Group colleague Scott Pansky to head up the new
Santa Monica office, which will take advantage of what Allison called
’the increasing convergence between Hollywood and Silicon Valley.’
Allison also hinted that a Southland acquisition could be close at hand
for Connors, though he would not disclose any potential targets.
