REDWOOD CITY, CA: Ketchum Thomas, the Silicon Valley hi-tech arm of
Ketchum, last week bumped former Wilson McHenry EVP Stephen J. Jones up
to SVP/office director, a newly created position.
Susan Thomas, founder of Thomas Associates (acquired by Ketchum in
1997), will remain in Silicon Valley as partner/director of Ketchum’s
global hi-tech practice. In her new role, Thomas will focus full-time on
developing the agency’s tech capabilities.
In his new position, which reports to Ketchum North America senior
partner Lorraine Thelian, Jones will manage day-to-day operations for
Ketchum Thomas and work closely with the firm’s San Francisco and Los
Angeles directors to build its West Coast presence.
Prior to his three-year Wilson McHenry stint, Jones was a director at
Burson-Marsteller/Silicon Valley, managing Apple Computer’s corporate PR
initiatives. He has also done time at Hi-Tech
Communications/Golin-Harris and Hill & Knowlton.
Like many of the PR profession’s best and brightest, Jones began his
career in journalism, working as a reporter for Computerworld and The
Los Angeles Daily News.
Ketchum Thomas handles a variety of business-to-business and
business-to-consumer tech clients, including Intuit, Nokia and Sun
Microsystems.
