How did you get into PR? I tore the PR section of the yellow pages out

of the phone book and went cold-calling with resume in hand. When I got

down to ’P,’ PRx in Cupertino, CA hired me.



How did you get where you are today? By treating each new assignment as

if my life depended on it.



What is your best and worst habit? Best: taking a personal interest in

my clients and employees. Worst: taking a personal interest in my

clients and employees.



What was your most embarrassing moment? Early in my career, I had a

disastrous meeting with a rather caustic editor who shredded the

client’s concept.



We all left feeling as if our masculinity had been removed with a

belt-sander.



Who put the ’bomp’ in the ’bomp shoo bomp shoo bomp’? James Brown - the

Godfather of Soul, Rap and High-Speed Interstate Car Chases.



Who do you hate most? People who drive too slow in the fast lane.



What is your idea of perfect bliss? A two-day work week, a fully stocked

wine cellar, a fast car with a full tank of gas, flexible tee times and

making my wife happy 24/7.



What would you do on a desert island? Not think about client issues or

technology.



Name one thing about your past that people would be surprised to

learn.



I could slam dunk a basketball and triple-jump more than 40 feet.



Who do you most look like? Tom Selleck, or so I’ve been told.



What is the best invention of all time? Free time.



Do you have a secret daily pleasure? French Roast Coffee (two large

mugs) and Ginseng in the morning, and exercise after work.



What will you do when you retire? Lower my golf handicap to single

digits, play with my kids (assuming we have some) and decompress from

20+ years in hi-tech PR.



What is your best ability? Gaining trust and following through on

commitments.



I am also deadly with a lob wedge from 50 yards and in.

REALLY mean? It means we are going to charge you a lot of money.
