ORANGE, CA: The Sistonia Corp., a new media company specializing in Web development, has hired Matthew Cunningham as director of PR and Peter Bowen as COO. Cunningham, who arrives from political affairs shop Pacific Strategies, will oversee PR for Sistonia as well as its TM Interactive, Mainstreet Multimedia and tmPower divisions. Bowen joins from The Sangreal Group, a consultancy, where he was president.

CHICAGO: AT&T has tapped Steve Clawson as VP, public relations in

Chicago. The post encompasses responsibilities across five midwest

states. He replaces long-time AT&T PR exec Ray O’Connell, who recently

retired after 34 years with the company.





NEW YORK: Ketchum has announced plans to shift David Gallagher,

previously head of the Washington, DC healthcare practice, to London in

May. From there, he will lead the agency’s European healthcare practice

and become MD of Ketchum’s London healthcare group. He succeeds Paul

Blackburn, who moves over to Omnicom-owned sister agency

Fleishman-Hillard as MD of its UK operation.





MINNEAPOLIS: Kerker Marketing Communications chairman and CEO Chuck

Wanous, who joined the agency in 1967 as an AE, has announced his

retirement, effective June 30. Chuck Kelly, formerly director of client

services, assumes the firm’s leadership as president.





CHICAGO: BSMG has promoted Cathy Calhoun from COO to president and Janet

Cabot to deputy manager in its Chicago office. Calhoun, a seven-year

BSMG vet, will also sit on the firm’s board.





LOS ANGELES: Celebrity PR legend Pat Kingsley has been elected to the

American Film Institute’s board of trustees.





NEW YORK: Cohn & Wolfe has inked a strategic partnership with Karlitz &

Company, a NY-based marketing firm that has worked for American Express

and Nabisco. This marks the second alliance C&W has made over the past

year, following an agreement with financial specialist The Torrenzano

Group.





BOSTON: Africa ONE, which is creating an undersea, fiber-optic cable

systems to connect African countries to each other and the world, has

hired LA-based Young Communications Group for worldwide media

relations.





WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA: Coyote Network Systems has hired Thomson Financial

Investor Relations and Edelman. The company, a provider of telecom

equipment and network carrier services, has not employed a PR firm for

four years. The one-year Edelman account is worth approximately dollars

500,000.





BOSTON: Etang.com, a company using the Internet to create a lifestyle

brand for 18- to 35-year-olds in mainland China, has selected Ogilvy and

Alexander Ogilvy as its agencies of record.
