LONDON: In a move that allows Peter Hehir to concentrate on his

role as chairman of CPN and Porter Novelli International, Countrywide

Porter Novelli has promoted Neil Backwith into Hehir’s CEO slot.

According to Backwith, the reason for his elevation was the differing

nature of PN’s UK and international businesses. ’CPN is very well

established in the UK, whereas the European business is much younger and

fast-growing,’ he said.

Backwith will also continue in his former role as strategic development

director - a pivotal post, given planned practice area launches within

the next few months. ’Even though there will be a change in the

structure of the business, the core values and directions will stay the

same,’ he promised.

Backwith previously spent 11 years as MD of CPN’s advertising interests.
