Greely takes post with Wash. Opera

WASHINGTON, DC: M. Gasby Greely, former SVP of development for the National Urban League, has moved to Washington to become EVP and director of strategic resource development for the Washington Opera. The appointment makes her the highest-ranking African-American in opera administration in the US.

WASHINGTON, DC: M. Gasby Greely, former SVP of development for the

National Urban League, has moved to Washington to become EVP and

director of strategic resource development for the Washington Opera. The

appointment makes her the highest-ranking African-American in opera

administration in the US.



In the new post, Greely will be responsible for all PR, marketing and

fund-raising efforts for the 44-year-old opera company.



The National Urban League has yet to find Greely’s replacement. However,

spokesperson Wanda Jackson said the group has several internal

candidates who can handle its PR on an interim basis.
