LONDON: Starting today, Politicsdirect.com will become the UK’s

first public affairs shop to offer live online consultations.

The firm’s online component boasts three distinct parts: an information

database with political profiles from the UK, Europe and the US; a

monitoring service that provides access to government press releases;

and the live consulting arm. The site also includes an affiliation

program for independent agencies around the world wishing to share

clients across borders as well as the opportunity to purchase political

books from Amazon.co.uk or government publications through the Crown

Copyright Office.

Politicsdirect was founded six months ago by former Tory campaigner

David Beamer and ex-Labour students’ chief John Arnold, both of whom

were members of The Communication Group’s political division until last

summer.

The agency has provided straight public affairs advice through Arnold

for six months and has funneled most of the revenues generated into the

online component.

The founders do, however, admit that more cash is needed to finance the

site, but Beamer and Arnold insist they have no plans to go public. ’We

are best able to pioneer services as an independent,’ Beamer said.
