REDWOOD CITY, CA: Gearing up for the spring launch of its Web site for teen girls, digital lifestyle brand Kibu has snapped up a new PR chief and signed with top Hollywood publicity shop B/W/R.

chief and signed with top Hollywood publicity shop B/W/R.



The Redwood City-based start-up, which recently landed dollars 22

million in venture funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and

Netscape’s Jim Clark, lured Kristi Dyer away from Excite@Home to serve

as director of corporate communications.



Dyer said that the selection of a non-Silicon Valley,

non-Internet-oriented agency was not odd given Kibu’s content, business

model and target audience.’We are not strictly an online business - Kibu

will also be a lifestyle brand with many off-line elements - so we went

with B/W/R because of its strength in special events, promotions,

celebrity ties and personality-driven promotions,’ Dyer explained, she

added that she may consider working with additional PR firms on other

projects in the future.



A wholly owned Ogilvy subsidiary, B/W/R clients include well-known

consumer brands such as Disney and Kodak as well as actors Brad Pitt,

Claire Danes and Ben Affleck.
