MUMBAI, INDIA: Ogilvy has expanded its India presence with the opening

of a sixth office in Hyderabad, one of the country’s hi-tech centers.

The new office will be headed by India managing partner Mahnaz Curmally,

with a start-up staff of four. The agency also has offices in Bangalore,

Calcutta and Colombo, Sri Lanka.





HONG KONG: The National Basketball Association’s Asian marketing arm is

beefing up its in-house PR team in Korea and China with the promotion of

Michael Denzel to managing director. The move comes at a time when the

league is looking to expand its reach to new Asian markets. According to

PR manager Cheong Sau Ching, the company will hire a country PR manager

for Korea by the end of this year and two additional PR staffers in

China.





SINGAPORE: Burson-Marsteller has announced that MD and market leader

Alan VanderMolen will transfer to the firm’s Warsaw office, where he

will manage operations in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. He

will also continue to work on Burson’s global Citibank account. His

replacement will be Melbourne director and corporate practice leader

Simon Pangrazio.





ANKARA, TURKEY: Colgate-Palmolive has tapped Tribeca Communications to

handle corporate and brand-based PR in the region. Pronto PR had

previously handled the company’s account for the last two years.





VIENNA: Burger King has tapped Ketchum for PR support in anticipation of

its entry into the Austrian market. The firm has been working with

Burger King/Deutschland for four years.





SINGAPORE: Corporate reputation management consultancy Forrest

International has hired Jeffrey Schultz as MD of its Singapore

operations. He joins the firm from Burson-Marsteller, where he was MD of

corporate and financial communications for Burson/Hong Kong.





BRUSSELS: Ogilvy has hired Peter Verhille as head of its Brussels public

affairs practice. He joins from Entente International Communications,

where he served as MD for the last four years. Ogilvy boasts a 25-strong

team in Brussels, with eight staffers devoted to public affairs.





SAO PAULO: PR Newswire has tapped Patricia Canary as VP for Latin

America. As director of Latin America since 1998, Canary led the

company’s expansion into the region, including the development of a Sao

Paulo bureau.
