formerly known as Hensley Segal Rentschler, made the first of several

hoped-for acquisitions last week, grabbing PRCommunicators, a Cincinnati

shop, for an undisclosed sum.

And the firm’s buying binge is just getting started, according to

chairman and CEO Richard Segal, Jr., with HSR actively involved in

negotiations with at least four other firms throughout the country.

Segal said he went after PRCommunicators because he was impressed by the

firm’s talent, particularly founder Tim Gibbons. Gibbons will join HSR’s

marketing communications division as group VP of client services.

’Like everyone else, we’re trying to aggregate talent,’ Segal said.

Considered one of the major PR players in Ohio, HSR’s restructuring

earlier this year was designed to make the agency more of a presence in

the world of Web and business-to-business PR and marketing. As part of

the reorganization, the firm created two operating companies, HSR

Internet Services and HSR Consulting, and renamed its marketing arm HSR

Marketing Communications.

HSR Business to Business boasts 86 staffers, 25 of whom are devoted to

PR.
