SUNNYVALE, CA: Former Blanc & Otus SVP and partner Susan Cashen,

who founded the agency’s thriving Mountain View branch, has left the

agency fold for a position at Tivo, the Sunnyvale-based maker of

technology that enables personalized, interactive TV viewing.

Cashen, who spent more than five years at B&O and helped launch the

firm’s consumer tech practice, joins Tivo as VP of corporate

communications.

She will sit on the company’s executive management board and oversee all

PR, IR and strategic messaging activities.

Cashen described her hiring as a sign that the newly public company (its

IPO was last September) is serious about building up its marketing

team.

’Leaving Blanc & Otus was a big decision, but this is a great company

with a very seasoned management team,’ she explained. ’I wasn’t

interested in going to a dot-com with a bunch of kids. Also, with the

aggressive consumer media campaign and number of business announcements

we have coming out over the next three quarters, I am sure this is one

corporate-side job that can keep my Type-A personality satisfied.’

Tivo will continue its year-long relationship with B&O.

Back at B&O/Mountain View, SVP Bob Finlayson has been promoted to GM to

take over for Cashen, and account director Amy Royer was bumped up to

VP. The office, which has about 40 full-time employees, services a broad

portfolio of consumer Internet clients, including Tivo, RocketCash,

Kana, Productopia, Lucy.com and PeoplePC.
