college rescinded an invitation for a speaking appearance by feminist

and former Ms. magazine editor Gloria Steinem.

The small Catholic college, which is predominantly female, canceled

Steinem’s appearance, fearing that she would discuss abortion

rights.

Sullivan had worked at Trinity one day a week for about a year.

Trinity director of communications Jan Kelley said that reaction to

Sullivan’s departure was mixed, depending on how people viewed the

abortion issue.

’People that supported Gloria Steinem coming are on her side and feel

that she made the right decision,’ Kelley said. ’Those that supported

the decision to not have Gloria Steinem come think that she

overreacted.’

Trinity has not yet begun a search for Sullivan’s replacement. Sullivan

could not be reached for comment.
