WASHINGTON, DC: Michael Scanlon’s three-month tenure in Shandwick’s

DC outpost came to a sudden halt earlier this month when he departed the

embattled office for a post at heavy-hitter law and lobbying firm

Preston Gates Ellis Rouvelas & Meeds.

Scanlon, who joins the firm as a client and media relations counselor,

will offer clients PR advice as well as coordinating work with its

outside public affairs and PR firms. His departure is the latest in a

continuing exodus from Shandwick as the DC PR behemoth continues to meld

its operations with the acquired Cassidy Companies.

Scanlon had joined Shandwick earlier this year from the office of House

Majority Whip Tom DeLay, where he handled communications during the

Clinton impeachment crisis (PRWeek, Jan. 10). Scanlon drew good marks

from the news media for being accessible and a good source while

representing a partisan figure.
