NEW YORK: The New York Times Company has promoted director of IR

Catherine Mathis to VP for corporate communications. She succeeds Nancy

Nielsen, who is joining Harvard University’s Center for the Study of

World Religions.





SAN FRANCISCO: Ogilvy has appointed Robert Mathias MD and head of the

firm’s San Francisco outpost. Mathias, who joined Ogilvy 12 years ago

and rose to SVP of the firm’s DC office, will report to Americas

president Marcia Silverman. Mathias has also served as executive

assistant to US Energy Secretary James Watkins and as deputy assistant

secretary at the Department of Energy.





SAN FRANCISCO: ThirdAge, an online community for Baby Boomers, has

tapped former Robinson Lerer & Montgomery VP Kelly Simpson Leahy as

director of corporate communications. The position is a new one for the

company.





NEW YORK: EverAd, developer of the PlayJ music platform, has brought

Michael Berkowitz on board as director of corporate communications.

Berkowitz arrives from LA-based VC fund Technology & Internet

Capital.

nine Latin American IT companies, has tapped The Jeffrey Group for PR.

The company has more than 1,100 employees and boasted 1999 revenues of

dollars 90 million.





NEW YORK: Rare Medium Group, a firm that invests in next-generation

Internet companies, has snared Rebecca Lieb away from Siegelgale to

serve as director, corporate communications.





ARLINGTON, VA: MacNeil/Lehrer Productions has named Rob Flynn director

of communications. He joins from The Golf Channel, where he was managing

director of marketing and communications.





NORWALK, CT: Priceline.com has named William Pike to the newly created

position of VP, financial planning and analysis and IR. He was formerly

director of IR for Citigroup.





BALTIMORE: Wills & Associates, a full-service public affairs shop, has

upped VP of business development Bradford Wills to president and COO.

His father George founded the company in 1978, and the younger Wills has

worked there since 1993.





NEW YORK: Vibe/Spin Ventures, the publisher of music titles Vibe, Spin

and Blaze, has named Nikkena Cruz Crawford director of PR and promoted

Cara Donatto to PR manager for Blaze.
