LONDON: Edelman has poached Ashton Coleman-Smith away from Hill &
Knowlton to lead its European-wide consumer practice.
Coleman-Smith, previously managing director of H&K’s corporate and
consumer financial group, said his Edelman role will be similar to the
one he had at H&K, where he attempted to use consumer brand-marketing
techniques on business clients.
’I will be taking consumer marketing methods to all types of brands.
That is the way communications is going,’ he explained.
Coleman-Smith will manage a team of 20 and report to Tari Hibbitt, the
chief executive of Edelman/UK. He replaces Christina Smedley, who left
the firm in February to join Amazon.com as director of
Coleman-Smith expects to work on high-profile Edelman accounts such as
Procter & Gamble, Ericsson and the Millennium Dome. He has also been
charged with expanding the firm’s consumer marketing capabilities

To replace Coleman-Smith, H&K has hired Keith Sharpe, formerly head of
Burson-Marsteller’s corporate practice, as a senior consultant within
its corporate and consumer financial practice.
