Strategies to Blanc & Otus.

While Clarent senior director of IR and corporate communications Amy

Wright said that no contracts had been signed, she confirmed that she

was in talks with the firm. B&O president and CEO Jonelle Birney,

however, said Clarent informed the agency two weeks ago that it had won

the business and that only the final details were under negotiation.

According to Birney, Clarent approached B&O about a year ago when she

first joined, interested in her background as MCI’s former VP of PR.

’We weren’t ready then and didn’t have the people in place yet to take

on that business, so they hired someone else,’ she explained. ’When they

came back to us, we jumped at the chance to work with them.’

Other recently inked B&O clients include E-Stamp, which had been

resigned by Interactive Public Relations in February, and OrderFusion, a

San Diego-based business-to-business e-commerce supplier that previously

used The Townsend Agency.
