Alan Ziegaus, who left the firm on February 29, has teamed up with

son-in-law Chris Wahl to launch a new PR and public affairs agency

specializing in crisis and environmental communications.

Called Southwest Strategies, the San Diego-based firm will absorb Wahl’s

previous agency, Wahl Associates, which has counseled companies such as

Unocal and Tosco Refining Company on environmental issues.

A former journalist and leading Republican strategist, Ziegaus headed up

most of Stoorza’s political campaign work during his 16 years there,

serving as senior counsel on California governor Pete Wilson’s

successful 1994 campaign.
