business software and services provider, has tapped Ruder Finn for as
much as dollars 2 million in branding, IR and PR work.
’We’re going though a rebirth,’ said Ellyn Winters-Robinson, director of
marketing at the 15-year-old Mortice Kern, which took in dollars 36
million in revenues last year. Until now, the company handled all of its
Ruder Finn had pitched the company via phone in the past, and that pitch
stuck in Winters-Robinson’s mind when she started shopping for PR
’There’s a lot of firms out there that give you glitz, but don’t give
you substance,’ she explained. She spoke with several firms on both the
East and West coasts, but settled on Ruder Finn because of its
combination of hi-tech, IR and branding expertise.
Winters-Robinson, who had been doing Mortice Kern’s corporate media work
herself, was also impressed by the agency’s list of media contacts. ’I
knew all the media contacts,’ she said. ’It was very easy to tell that
these guys knew their stuff.’
The new account will be coordinated out of Ruder Finn’s Chicago office,
located near the Chicago-area Mortice Kern facility that houses nearly
half of its 320 employees. According to RF/Chicago GM Howard Solomon,
three of his staffers will join two New York-based IR specialists and
four NY branding pros on the account team. The New York creative team
will oversee future advertising efforts as well.
